Without sufficient exercise, you will likely become unhealthier over time which can lead to a wide range of diseases. It is recommended that you get at least 30 minutes of exercise on a daily basis for at least 5 days per week to be healthy. However, many people find it difficult to do so and go to the gym, especially with their busy schedules, work and other commitments. However, you can exercise at home and this is a much easier way to get exercise and it also saves time. Basically, you will be doing a particular exercise for 20 – 60 seconds at full intensity and then you’ll rest for either the same amount of time or less before repeating the exercise. This will continue in a loop for 10 – 30 minutes. Some popular exercises that are used in HIIT training are jump rope, jumping jacks, burpees, mountain climbers, high knees, stationary running, step ups etc. It is very important that you go all out when doing these exercises to reap the benefits of HIIT training.
In addition to doing aerobic and cardiovascular training, it is important that you also do resistance training. This is essential so that you build or at least maintain your muscle mass. In order to do this type of training, you will need to get some weights. You can get a couple pairs of dumbbells and that should be enough to start with. Of course, you can also get some barbells, a weight bench etc. If you have the space and finances, you can get various other exercise equipment such as a squat cage, leg press etc.
When doing a resistance or weight training routine, you need to do progressive training in order to see results. This means that you should aim to either lift more weight on specific exercises over time. Alternatively, if you don’t have many weights, you can aim to do more repetitions per set. Some of the best exercises to do include squats, lunges, goblet squats, overhead press, chest press, flys, rows etc.
